Sanctions against Russia should be maintained – Vejonis

President of the Republic of Latvia Raimonds Vejonis said this at the joint press conference with President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"I hope for full and unconditional implementation of the Minsk Agreements. It is extremely important. The economic sanctions against Russia should be maintained till the full implementation of the Minsk Agreements," Vejonis said.

According to the President of Latvia, first of all it concerns the withdrawal of all foreign troops and military weapons from the territory of Ukraine.

"The review of economic sanctions against Russia is impossible without the implementation of precisely these provisions of the Minsk Agreements. If Russia talks about postponement of implementation of the Minsk Agreements or shifting them in time, nothing good will come of it," he stressed.
