Militants postpone local elections in Donbas

Representatives of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) and Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR) at today’s meeting of the trilateral contract group in Minsk have announced that they will pospone local elections till the next year.

The statement by DPR and LPR negotiators at t Minsk talks Vladislav Deinego and Denis Pushylin have been posed on the insurgent’s Web sites.

“.. The proposal by the LPR on postponing elections in Donbas to February 21, 2016 under condition of full implementation by Kyiv of ‘Minsk-2’ political clauses is taken into account by the ‘Normandy four’. We examined the statements and recommendations of Merkel and Hollande that were issued after the Paris summit on October 2. We held consultations here, in Minsk, with representatives of the OSCE and Russia… After this, we are informing about the readiness of the DPR and LPR to postpone the elections from October 19 to November 1 of the next year,” reads the statement.
