Interior Ministry: Ukraine's border with Russia to be closed
KYIV, June 11 /Ukrinform/. Ukraine's border with Russia will be closed, and the search for the necessary methods and means is currently underway.
The Ukrainian interior minister's adviser, Anton Herashchenko, said this live on Channel 5.
"Different methods should be considered, but, of course, we will close the border immediately. For this purpose the necessary means and methods are being established," he said.
When asked whether the option of mining the border with Russia is being considered, Herashchenko said: "Mining our own territory is a danger to citizens of Ukraine, to animals. The question is not easy. Although national security is more important, but we need to weigh all pros and cons. There are many methods of struggle without mines, but they require time and money. Now we do not have enough of either one or the other."
As reported, eight checkpoints have currently been closed at the state border with Russia.
