ATO spokesman: Today Donetsk militants will either surrender, or be killed
KYIV, May 27 /Ukrinform/. As of midnight May 27 all terrorist targets in Donetsk are explored, and if the rebels do not surrender, the explored objects will be hit from precision weapons, spokesman for the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) Vladyslav Seleznoiv wrote on his Facebook page.
"For today, all the militants' objects are explored. If the militants do not surrender, the explored objects will be hit from special high-precision weapons.
“The objectives of the anti-terrorist operation continue to be implemented," Selezniov said.
He cited the capture and release of the Donetsk airport on Monday.
"On May 26, at 04.30 the militants captured the Prokofiev Donetsk Airport. There were about 200 people, the majority represented other states.
The main group located in the new terminal of the airport. The capture of the terminal threated civilian lives. In this regard, in order to prevent the negative effects the ATO leadership presented the terrorists with an ultimatum to surrender. Those who were willing to lay down their arms were guaranteed safety.
At 16.00 an operation to neutralize the terrorists started with an airstrike. The militants who settled in the terminal were completely destroyed," Selezniov writes. Reports about the loss of terrorists are being specified. According to LigaBusinessInform, over 100 militants have been killed and many more injured.
