Symonenko: Interest on IMF loans paid from pensions of ordinary Ukrainians

Ukrinform
KYIV, October 25 /Ukrinform/. Communist Party leader Petro Symonenko named as initiators of the "treacherous pension reform” such persons as ex- president Viktor Yushchenko and former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, former Verkhovna Rada Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn, former head of the National Bank Volodymyr Stelmakh and ex-Finance Minister Viktor Pynzenyk.

Symonenko, who is quoted by golos.ua, argues that the interest on loans from the IMF is paid from pensions of ordinary Ukrainians.

"They signed a memorandum with the International Monetary Fund to meet the requirements of the oligarchs, but on the other hand - to timely pay the interest on the IMF loans and to raise the prices for gas and electricity," Symonenko said.

According to him, the Party of Regions and the Lytvyn Bloc also had a hand in this reform - and full responsibility lies with all these politicians.

"The Communist Party is the only party that did not vote for this reform," the CPU leader said.

Symonenko called the current problems of the Pension Fund a result of the authorities' economic reform. According to him, it is "a result of plundering of factories that were built by your parents including. History will never forget your treacherous policy. Ukraine at the dawn of independence was among the ten most developed countries, and now it drags out a miserable existence," Symonenko stressed.
