French daily Le Figaro has condemned the illegal arrest of Ukrinform correspondent in Paris Roman Sushchenko in Moscow and defended his professional reputation as a journalist.
This is stated in the article published in the newspaper on October 12, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
Le Figaro describes in detail the "story" of Sushchenko that happened to him in Moscow, since his illegal arrest on September 30. The author particularly notes that the Russia’s Federal Security Service and the Russian TASS news agency reported that "a spy" had been detained in Moscow, without mentioning the fact Roman is a professional journalist.
"It caused surprise among the expert community in Paris, who well know the work of Roman Sushchenko starting from his arrival in Paris in 2010. He is a hard-working, respected journalist," the Paris daily says.
