Ukrinform
Representative Committee of Ukrainian community in France has applied to the French Parliament, as well as to the leaders of all political factions of the French legislative body with a request to assist in the release of Ukrinform correspondent Roman Sushchenko, who was illegally detained in Moscow.

This has been said in a statement of the committee, which is available to Ukrinform.

"Representative Committee of Ukrainian community in France opposes the arrest of Roman Sushchenko, claims a violation of freedom of speech by Putin regime and asks members of parliament to influence the Russian government and to demand the release of Roman Sushchenko," reads a statement.

As reported, Roman Sushchenko was detained on Friday, September 30, in Moscow following Russian media reports accusing him of 'espionage'. Roman at the time of arrest was on vacation and arrived in Moscow for private purposes. Ukrinform and Sushchenko's wife concluded an agreement with lawyer Mark Feygin who will defend Roman Sushchenko. Roman Suchshenko is being kept in Moscow's Lefortovo prison.
