New EU ambassador calls on Parliament to pass law paving way to EUR 600 mln in aid

EU Ambassador to Ukraine Hugues Mingarelli asks the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to pass the bill on the National Commission for State Energy and Public Utilities Regulation of Ukraine next week.
This is said in the statement released by the EU Delegation to Ukraine.
"We are very disappointed that the law on the Energy Regulator was not adopted by the Verkhovna Rada in final reading," the statement reads.
It is noted that this bill is urgently needed to support further reform in the energy sector, notably gas and electricity.
"I very much hope that the bill will be passed as soon as the Rada reconvenes in plenary next week. The adoption of this law is also a condition for the release of the second tranche of EUR 600 million under the EU's Macro-financial assistance," Mingarelli said.
