The abolition of 2% duty on purchases of foreign currency depends on the Finance Ministry, according to Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Valeria Gontareva.

“In May, we sent an official letter to the Finance Ministry so that to cancel this obligatory pension duty of two percent, and we hope they will introduce relative amendments to our budget code,” Gontareva said at a press conference in the National Bank, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

She added that a ruling by the Verkhovna Rada is also needed in order to cancel the 2% duty on foreign currency purchases.
