Jaresko plans to transfer management of four customs to foreign company

The Ukrainian Finance Ministry is planning to transfer Zakarpattia, Lviv, Volyn and Chernivtsi customs to the management of a foreign company in order to stamp out corruption and significantly improve the quality of customs services.

“Our task is to carry out institutional changes so that to bring the work of customs in line with the EU standards, to eliminate chances for corruption and to raise customs service. For this purpose, we offer to introduce a new format of work at customs in four regions bordering on the EU: Volyn, Lviv, Zakarpattia, Chernivtsi regions. [We would like] to attract international companies with a successful experience in reforming customs,” Finance Minister Natalie Jaresko said.

According to her, the main purpose that should be achieved as a result of cooperation between the State Fiscal Service and a foreign company is “the overcoming corruption and a significant raise in customs service”.
