Ukraine will impose a special duty on imports of a number of Belarusian goods starting from January 20, 2016.

This decision was made by the interdepartmental commission on international trade in response to Belarus actions when it increased import duties  on the Ukrainian confectionery companies and breweries, the Uryadovy Courier newspaper reports.

According to the report, the commission considered materials submitted by the Economy Ministry on implementing adequate countermeasures in response to discriminatory and unfriendly actions by Belarus against Ukraine confectionery and brewing companies.

"The Commission has decided to impose a special duty of 39.2 percent of the declared customs value on certain goods originating from the Republic of Belarus that are imported to Ukraine," a statement said.

The special duty will also be imposed on dairy products, cheese of all kinds, some fish products, sugar based confectionery and bakery products, chocolate, malt beer, vodka, salt and other goods.
