World Bank to allocate $560 mln for road construction in Ukraine

The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development will provide Ukraine with $560 million loan to finance the project of the road sector development.

It is stipulated in the agreement signed between the Infrastructure Ministry of Ukraine and the World Bank, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"We will be able to complete the Kyiv-Kharkiv-Poltava road in about five years thanks to this money... We will be able to develop new projects of the roads in the direction of Lviv-Kharkiv, to complete a new pilot project in the direction of Kyiv-Kirovohrad-Mykolayiv and the quality projects on automatic weight checking," Infrastructure Minister Andriy Pyvovarsky said at the signing ceremony.

The loan will also help to provide funding for the maintenance and improvement of road safety on nearly 840 kilometers of key national transport corridors.
