Estonia to consider transfer of fisheries management software to Ukraine

Estonia will consider the issue of transfer and installation of software for establishing a modern management system for fisheries to Ukraine.

A representative from Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine told Ukrinform.

It is reported that the software platform  enables to make electronic reporting on fishing aquatic biological resources by industrial fishing vessels.

At the meeting, the Estonian delegation briefed the Ukrainian side in detail on the current state of the fisheries in Estonia, the procedure for assessment of water biological resources stocks, system management and allocation of fishing quotas between industrial fishermen. Also presented was the catch registration system and Estonian experience of introduction of electronic system for reporting catches of aquatic biological resources by industrial vessels.

"Estonia is a good example for Ukraine concerning implementation of the European sector management system, accountability and quality of satellite systems and Internet connection for efficient use and sustainable reproduction of water biological resources," the ministry noted.

It is also reported that Ukraine discussed with Estonian delegation the possibility of organizing training programs for employees of territorial branches of state fisheries agency in Estonia.

"Hopefully, the experience and technical developments gained by Estonia will help to modernize the fishery sector of Ukraine," the ministry said.
