The Zmiyivska thermal power plant (TPP) outside the northeastern city of Kharkiv has resumed it operation after a long pause caused by a shortage of coal.

Representatives of the state-owned Tsentrenergo company told Ukrinform.

"Suspension of Zmiyivska TPP in May was caused by the need to accumulate coal in reserves before the start of heating season. As of October 9, reserves of coal at the warehouse total 108,000 tonnes,” noted company representatives.

Coal reserves are being replenished daily.

"Six units of the plant were repaired on schedule. The final stage provides for repairs of another three units. Until the year end, all of the planned repairs will be completed,” the company noted.
