KYIV, September 16 /Ukrinform/. The video messaging application Snapchat has acquired facial recognition Ukrainian startup Looksery.

This is reported by Ain.ua Ukrainian media outlet, referring to its own sources.

According to the media, Snapchat purchased the startup for $150 million. The company refused to comment on the deal.

Looksery was started by a Ukrainian team. The two year old startup uses facial recognition technology to essentially photoshop video chats and messages in real time. Users can add filters to their faces that make them look older, or like zombies. They can also make themselves look more attractive, with slimmer cheeks, smoother skim, bluer eyes, etc. It reportedly has about three million downloads, Business Insider reports.
