Russian-led forces launch 14 attacks on Ukrainian troops in Donbas

On April 12, Russian occupation forces launched 14 attacks, using weapons banned under the Minsk agreements seven times, on Ukrainian troops in the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) area in Donbas. One Ukrainian soldier was killed and two more were wounded.

“Russian occupation troops fired 64 120mm and 82mm mortars into Ukrainian defenders. In addition, the enemy fired grenade launchers of different systems, heavy machine guns and small arms,” the JFO Headquarters press center reports.

In the zone of action of tactical force “East”, the Russian-led forces used 82mm and 120mm mortars to shell Ukrainian troops near Avdiivka (17km north of Donetsk); 82mm mortars, heavy machine guns and small arms – outside Opytne (12km north-west of Donetsk); 82mm mortars – in the area of Hnutove (20km north-east of Mariupol); mounted antitank grenade launchers, heavy machine guns and small arms – near Chermalyk (31km north-east of Mariupol), Novoselivka Druha (36km north-east of Mariupol) and Verkhniotoretske (22km north-east of Donetsk); grenade launchers of different systems, heavy machine guns and small arms – outside Pyshchevyk (25km north-east of Mariupol).

In the zone of action of tactical force “North”, the enemy fired 120mm mortars, grenade launchers of different systems and heavy machine guns on Ukrainian positions near Novozvanivka (70km west of Luhansk); 120mm mortars – outside Troitske (69km west of Luhansk); 82mm mortars, automatic mounted grenade launchers and heavy machine guns – in the area of Zaitseve (62km north-east of Donetsk).

The Joint Forces adequately returned fire in response to enemy’s shooting. According to the intelligence, two invaders were annihilated, three more were wounded on April 12. The Joint Forces units destroyed one BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicle of the enemy.

Today, the enemy has not opened fire yet.
