Canada to provide over 8 mln dollars for development of Ukrainian police

Canada will provide additional 8.1 million dollars for carrying out the law enforcement reform in Ukraine next year.

Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov said this following his visit to Canada, the Interior Ministry press service reports.

"Canada is a reliable partner and friend of Ukraine in carrying out the reforms and protecting the territorial integrity of our state. The implementation of this project is important for us, as it is aimed at the development of the National Police, facilitates further training of the law enforcement officers and introduces new standards in the work of the police," Avakov said.

He noted that 6.6 million dollars in Canadian aid would be aimed at improving skills of Ukrainian law enforcement officers through involvement of the experts and trainers of the Canadian police. 1.5 million dollars in aid are to be allocated for modern technical equipment for police units and departments.
