Defense Ministry: 53,000 soldiers signed contracts with Ukrainian Army in 2016

A total of 53,000 service members have concluded contracts for military service with the Ukrainian Army since January 2016.
Spokesperson of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, Lieutenant Oleksiy Chornobai said this at a press conference on Tuesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“Since the beginning of the year, about 53,000 servicepersons, of whom over 6,000 are officers, have signed contracts with the Ukrainian Army,” Chornobai said.
He also noted that another several thousand concluded contracts with the Ukrainian Army after the completion of a special training course.
“Every month about 6,000 contract soldiers join the Ukrainian Armed Forces,” he added.
