NSDC secretary: Ukraine’s defense budget for 2017 should not be less than the current one

The Ukrainian defense budget for 2017 should not be less than this year’s budget.
Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov stated this on July 26 at meeting dedicated to the development of the 2017 defense budget, the NSDC press service reports.
“Taking into account threats facing the country, we can’t reduce the amount of financing of the security and defense sector. That’s why the requirement of a national security strategy on financing this sector in the amount of 5% of GDP must be observed,” Turchynov said.
