Luhansk region ranked first for number of military contract sign-ups

"If you think that we are somehow lagging, I can say that the Luhansk region based on the number of volunteers and individuals willing to serve in the army took the first place in Ukraine in the second quarter and with about 1,000 contract sign-ups during the first half of 2016. The government has poured resources into the army today, increased the wages of military personnel, provided health care service, comprehensive benefits package. There are even some troops who demobilized, an in a week or two afterwards they came to us to sign the contract with us," noted the military officer.

According to his data, people from rural areas are more willing to serve under the contract, which may be caused by high unemployment in the rural areas of Donbas.
