The Ukrainian government will work out a process for granting the status of the ATO participant to volunteer military, Minister of Infrastructure Volodymyr Omelian has said, the ministry's press-service reports.

"We have a paradoxical situation: the people are giving their lives or health for Ukraine, but they are not listed in official statistics, and they don’t have any rights. We should develop a procedure that at least those who have been injured or killed in eastern Ukraine while defending Ukraine will be able to obtain the status of the ATO participant," said Omelian.

Following the motion made by the Minister of Infrastructure Omelian, the government has ordered the relevant ministries and agencies to develop a separate procedure for granting the status of the ATO participant to volunteer military, who are not part included in the official military units and who died or were injured during the fighting in eastern Ukraine.
