Defense Ministry: Women make up more than a third of contract personnel in military in 2016

Over one third of those persons who signed contracts for military service with the Ukrainian Armed Forces in 2016 are women, according to Deputy Defense Minister for European integration Ihor Dolhov.
“Since the beginning of the current year over 30,000 Ukrainian citizens have signed contracts with the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Over one third of these new contract servicepersons are women,” Dolhov said at a press briefing on Thursday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
He also added that as of June 1, 2016 a total of 49,552 women served and worked in the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
