22,500 Russian servicemen stationed in occupied Crimea – Ukrainian intelligence

About 22,500 servicemen of the Russian Armed Forces are stationed in the territory of occupied Crimea. The troop buildup and the measures to deploy the nuclear weapon carriers are being taken.

Vadym Skybytsky, the representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Defence Ministry of Ukraine, said this at the briefing in Kyiv, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"As of now, the troops of the Russian Armed Forces in Crimea equal 22,500 servicemen," he said.

The representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate noted that this powerful group had the appropriate land, air and maritime components. "In addition, the steps are taken for further buildup of troops in Crimea, for modernization of the equipment in service, ability to deploy the nuclear weapon carriers and the guided missile systems in order to bring the size and the combat potential of troops in Crimea to the Soviet Union level until 2020," he said.
