Fighting in Donbas may resume before New Year – Ukrainian intelligence

This was said in the exclusive commentary of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Defense Ministry of Ukraine to Ukrinform.

"The situation in eastern Ukraine is aggravating. It is testified by the increase in the number and scale of enemy provocations related to the attacks on the positions of Ukrainian troops involving the militant groups from 30-40 up to 100 people, reinforced by the armored fighting vehicles and infantry combat vehicles," the intelligence notes.

In addition, the activities of the sabotage and reconnaissance groups are intensified.

The Main Intelligence Directorate pointed out that the intensity of shelling of the ATO positions had escalated up to 60 cases per day using small arms, grenade launchers, 82mm and 120mm mortars, tanks, 122mm Grad multiple rocket launchers, and artillery systems over 100 mm in caliber.

"These facts confirm that Russia is getting ready to expand the scales of the armed confrontation in Donbas, which may begin in the second half of December this year," the intelligence officers stressed.
