FSB opens case against Crimea blockade organizer

The investigative department of the Federal Security Service of Russia (FSB) has opened the criminal case against one of the initiators of the commercial blockade of Crimea, owner of the ATR Crimean Tatar TV channel Lenur Islyamov.

This is reported by RIA Novosti Russian media outlet.

"The investigative department of the Federal Security Service of Russia for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol initiated the criminal proceedings against one of the initiators of the Crimea blockade Lenur Islyamov," reads the statement.

A source from the law enforcement agencies informed that the searches had been conducted in all Crimean companies owned by Islyamov since Monday morning.

As journalist Ayder Muzhdabaev posted on Facebook, "Employees of the ATR channel Elzar Islyamov and Lilya Budzhurova in Crimea and the relatives of director general of the ATR TV channel Lenur Islyamov in Crimea and Moscow have been searched since six o'clock in the morning. The ATR office in Simferopol is surrounded by the special police officers, who are likely to conduct the search there as well."

As reported, September 20, the Crimean Tatars launched the campaign to block the import of Ukrainian goods to Crimea. All three roads leading to the peninsula, annexed by Russia, were blocked by the activists.
