Police hold truck driver suspected in deadly hit and run in Mykolaiv

Police have detained a MERCEDES-BENZ truck driver of who fled the scene of deadly bus crash in the southern city of Mykolayiv last Monday night.
He was identified as a 38-year-old local city resident.
The press service of the Mykolayiv traffic police reports.
"After causing the crash, the driver of the MERCEDES-BENZ vehicle accelerated and fled from the scene. He stepped out of the vehicle shortly afterwards abandoning his vehicle. Police have identified and detained the driver of the truck in a short period of time. He was a 38-year-old man, local resident," police reported.
As a reminder, last Monday, October 5, at 20.55 in Mykolaiv the driver of the MERCEDES-BENZ truck collided with a route bus.
As a result of the crash two bus passengers died of their injuries. Another 19 bus passengers were injured.
