Zelensky meets with Nazarbayev in Tokyo, invites him to Ukraine

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met with the first President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev during the working visit to Japan, according to the Ukrainian president’s official website.

“During his visit to Japan, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met with the first President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev. Nursultan Nazarbayev congratulated the head of Ukrainian state on his election success,” reads the report.

The parties discussed the current situation in occupied territories of Donbas and Crimea.

According to Nazarbayev, Kazakhstan supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.

The parties also discussed "positive changes in the promotion of peace, in particular, the return of prisoners and the resumption of diplomatic negotiations, and stressed the need for talks in the Normandy format be held as soon as possible".

The issue of increasing trade between Ukraine and Kazakhstan was also raised during the meeting.

“We all need a dialogue. Our territories are important. These are the lands of our ancestors and, I am sure, of our children,” the Ukrainian president said.

Also, Zelensky invited Nazarbayev to visit to Ukraine.

On October 21-24, President Vladimir Zelensky paid a working visit to Japan to attend the Emperor's enthronement ceremony.
